Your planned gift ensures that the vital work that has meant so much to you continues for generations to come!

Making a gift (bequest) through your will or living trust gives you the immediate satisfaction of creating a lasting and personal legacy that ensures California State PTA’s future and doesn’t cost you anything now.
Whether your deep commitment to California State PTA is rooted in programs like School Smarts or the Reflections Art Program, quality education issues like Arts Education, State Ballot Initiatives and Advocacy, Health & Community Concerns issues like bullying prevention, mental health or nutrition, a gift through your will ensures future generations of students and families benefit from the wide breadth of work California State PTA delivers from the unit level to our statewide efforts. Your generosity through a planned gift, further illustrates your life and service to California State PTA as a legacy of care for others. It is a forever belief in our mission and the future of our organization, providing unrestricted support to California State PTA and the masses of students and families we serve.
FINANCIAL BENEFITS
- Your gift will have a significant impact
Create a legacy that will help change lives through your commitment to every child. - A bequest is flexible
You can use a wide range of assets to make your gift and create a highly personalized plan. - Your assets remain in your control
You can modify your bequest if your situation changes. - A charitable bequest may minimize estate tax
For donors who are subject to estate tax, a charitable bequest could reduce the amount of estate tax paid. In addition, some assets, such as retirement accounts, are heavily taxed when left to heirs and may also trigger an estate tax. A charitable gift, funded with these assets, bypasses taxation and gives your legacy maximum impact.
HOW IT WORKS
For many donors, the easiest way to make a significant gift to California State PTA is through their will or living trust
- Simply name California State PTA as a beneficiary in your estate documents. (Sample Language for Your Will):
I give [ ____ percent of the residue of my estate], or [the sum of ________ dollars] to the California State PTA.
- Create an addition (codicil) to your existing will or an amendment to your revocable trust.
- Choose to give a specific sum or a percentage of your estate in support of California State PTA.
- Make you gift in honor or memory of someone special.
- You can also give what remains in your estate after other distributions have been made.
- Additionally, you can give specific assets, including securities, real estate (such as a residence or office building) or personal property (such as artwork, antiques, royalties, copyrights, etc.).
- Name California State PTA as a retirement plan beneficiary. To do so, you need to contact your retirement plan administrator and complete the necessary beneficiary designation forms.
- Name California State PTA as the beneficiary of your life insurance policy. Contact your policy’s administrator so that you can complete the beneficiary designation form.
SHOULD YOU SHARE YOUR PLANS?
- The gift planning team can provide you and your advisors with sample bequest language, if desired.
