Students at Convention

Convention offers students a great way to build leadership skills, have a voice on issues, and interact with PTA members from around the state.

Students are encouraged to take advantage of workshops – several are developed specifically by and for students. Take a look below at the workshops to see what’s in store for students at convention.

  • Children under 12 – Parents may register children under 12 at no charge onsite at convention. Special badges will be issued allowing them to accompany a parent to activities on a space-available basis.
  • Children 12 and older – Must register and pay student registration fees.

Student Lounge in Room 105 – Connect with other student attendees or unwind in between sessions at your own exclusive student space!

Mini Table Talk: Increase Student Involvement – Join us in the Exhibit Hall on Friday and Saturday at 11:45 AM to learn about the value of student voices in PTA.

Several of the workshops are developed with students in mind including:

  • Friday, May 3
    • FRI304 Footsteps to Freedom
    • FRI400 Balancing Academics and Life
    • FRI402 Engaging, Educating, and Empowering Teens and Parents to Make Our Communities Safe
  • Saturday, May 4
    • SAT602 May is Mental Health Awareness Month – learn from NAMI how to end the silence
  • Sunday, May 5
    • SUN709 Student Engagement 101: Tools to Empower Student Leaders

This is an opportunity for student delegates and attendees to meet each other and interact with student members of the California State PTA Board of Managers.
