State Superintendent Tony Thurmond To Host Virtual Media Check-In on May 13

May 12 announcement from the California Department of Education:

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond will host a virtual media check-in on Wednesday, May 13 via Facebook Live. The State Superintendent will brief attendees on current topics the Department is focused on and provide multiple task force and committee updates regarding the digital divide, learning loss, and reopening schools.

The State Superintendent will also provide a current tally of the technology support promised by leaders from the computer and internet sectors for students who lack access to necessary devices and home internet connectivity to fully engage in distance learning.

State Superintendent Thurmond will hold a Q&A session on the topics covered immediately following his briefing. Members of the press are encouraged to submit questions in advance. Email questions to communications@cde.ca.gov by 5 p.m. today.
