SACRAMENTO – The Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) has honored Sherry Skelly Griffith, executive director of California State PTA, with the Ferd. J. Kiesel Service Award. The award was presented at ACSA’s Leadership Summit on November 3, 2017.

The Ferd. J. Kiesel Memorial Distinguished Service Award is the highest honor ACSA can present to an individual. The award is made in the memory of ACSA’s founding president Ferd. J. Kiesel, a man whose personal commitment to schools and students – and to the association – was exemplary. Only those who have made a significant contribution to public education, including an administrator, teacher, legislator or community member, are eligible to win the award.

“Sherry completely embodies PTA’s mission – to positively impact the lives of all children and families. She is well deserving of the Ferd. J. Kiesel Service Award and we could not be more proud that she is being honored by our partner in education,” said President of California State PTA Dianna MacDonald.

Sherry Skelly Griffith has worked in education policy for 30 years in the State Capitol and in Washington, D.C. Starting out as a preschool teacher and the first college graduate in her family, she has combined her passion for education and public policy these last three decades.

“The Association of California School Administrators is thrilled to be able to present this award to Sherry. She has dedicated her life to education and ACSA as a whole is extremely proud to be associated with someone who has made such an impact in the field of education,” said Wesley Smith, Executive Director of ACSA.
