PLANNING FOR CONVENTION

Did you know…

Every PTA can send at least 2 voting members to convention, so along with training and networking opportunities, your unit has a voice in how the California State PTA operates.

What will we have at convention?

  • Convention will kickoff May 1st with a preview of the Exhibit Hall and a chance to receive ribbons early.
  • 50 Workshops – training for leaders, programs for members, and educational updates.
  • Voting on Resolutions – 3 Resolutions were adopted in 2024 & we will be reviewing and approving updated California State PTA’s bylaws.
  • Exhibit Hall – Meet vendors to bring to your school from fundraising to assemblies and more.
  • Reflections Gallery – Enjoy the beautiful art that is created across the state.
  • Network and meet fellow leaders to collaborate and share ideas.

Registration Fees

Registration will begin February 15, 2025. Early bird pricing of $249 per delegate will be available until April 17, 2025. Regular pricing of $349 per delegate will go into effect starting April 18, 2025. Ontario Convention Center parking is included in your registration cost.

Hotel Costs

The Doubletree by Hilton is our Convention Hotel. For planning purposes, the rooms base rate will be around $180 a night. The hotel charges a daily fee for parking and is paid separately by delegates.

Food Costs

For example, delegates from CA State PTA are given per diem of $16-Breakfast, $18-Lunch, and $33-Dinner. Your PTA may be similar in your standing rules.

WHAT CAN YOU DO NOW TO PLAN?

You can use the following template below to help inform your Unit, Council, or District PTA to estimate what you need to add to your budget. Convention is a PTA-worthy expense!

How do you go about getting this approved to attend Convention?

  1. Bring this to your executive board and mention the benefits of attending the California State PTA Convention. Keep in mind, unit president-elects are already voting delegates if they attend.
  2. Identify if any other members of the board would like to attend.
  3. Make a motion to the executive board to recommend to the general association that they add this budget line item.
  4. Bring this Convention line item to your next general association meeting for approval.
