Tips for a Successful Year

Check out these tips to help you and your PTA team start the year off smoothly!

  • Plan out your PTA year
    • Meet with the executive board
    • Get to know each other
    • Create a work environment of cooperation and support
    • Give each new officer a procedure book or binder with a copy of the bylaws and the job description. You can also create a shared electronic drive which includes this information.
    • Set goals and expectations for your board.
    • Get ready to file your taxes and learn about AIM Insurance
  • Prepare for the PTA year – Before your first association meeting, create:
    • The budget
    • The calendar
    • The list of PTA programs you wish to execute
    • Fundraiser information
  • Promote
    • Announce meetings on your school website, family communication platforms (ParentSquare, Aeries, etc); utilize social media platforms, pass out flyers (after principal review), and display announcements on your school marquee
    • Invite everyone at your school to your first PTA Association meeting.
    • Ensure participants know that the event is being hosted by PTA and not the school.
    • Ask for volunteers – a great way to generate interest from new parents/guardians.
    • If you’re on campus or in the neighborhood, personally invite the people you come in contact with.
    • Ask for feedback by conducting a survey of the families you serve..
